  1. The 1st of December is World AIDS Day, and this year marks the 30th year of the epidemic. The Stop AIDS Campaign – a coalition of over 60 UK NGOs and Trade Unions – has commissioned a short campaign film covering the past and potential future of the AIDS response. We hope you would be interested in screening it as part of the trailers in your cinema in the lead up to and on World AIDS Day.

Twenty eleven could be forever remembered as the year the tide truly turned on AIDS. Startling new scientific evidence published this year proves that antiretroviral treatment not only keeps people alive and well, but also reduces the chance of transmission of HIV by 96%. Scaling up treatment will save lives and cut the cycle of new infections. We are now able to speak with credibility about bringing an end to the AIDS crisis within a generation. This short film tracks our progress over the first 30 years of the pandemic, speaks to the people who have been on the front line, those who are alive because of our collective efforts, and the experts involved in the scientific trials which could transform the response. And it poses the challenge to the viewer, whether ordinary individual or world leader, to make sure we grasp this opportunity. We could end AIDS within a generation, but we need your help…

Having noted your commitment to community and global awareness we hoped that The Meniscus Cinema might be interested. We want this film to be seen by as many people as possible and it would be fantastic if you could show it in your cinema. We’ll be able to share a preview of the film later next week.

Please contact me on email at jess@aidsconsortium.org.uk or by telephone 020 7324 4780 with your thoughts or if you have any questions regarding this email.

    Sincerely,

    Jess Hopf

  2. Hi,

I was wondering if any film makers need sound tracks making? I am a Fine Art Practice student at GIFHE, specialising in sonic art. Am looking to collaborate with all kinds of visual/performance/multimedia artists.

  3. Gillian Vickers says:

We run the Scunthorpe Young People’s Film Festival in North Lincolnshire and wondered whether we could link up with you in some way, perhaps by showcasing one of our winning films at your festival and vice versa. Our festival is 1-3 March. Any thoughts on how we can link up – even if it is only by distributing publicity for each other, would be much appreciated.
